In the face of the "zero tariff" opportunities brought about by the China ASEAN Free Trade Zone, Fujian has shown obvious competitive advantages.

Statistics from Fuzhou Customs show that in January, the first month of the establishment of the FTA, the total volume of trade between Fujian and ASEAN reached 990 million US dollars, which was 39.9 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of the province's foreign trade over the same period, an increase of 77.7% over the same period last year.

Among them,

640 million US dollars, and imports US $350 million.

At present, ASEAN has become the third largest trading partner of Fujian.

There is a blowout trend with imports of agricultural products.

50 million US dollars, an increase of 2.3 times compared with the same period last year; footwear 20 million dollars, an increase of 76.1% over the same period last year.

On the import side, Fujian imported 110 million dollars from ASEAN's mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 40.3% over the same period last year, 90 million US dollars in high-tech products, an increase of 32.9% over the same period last year, and 40 million US dollars in agricultural products, an increase of 2 times compared with the same period last year.

Fuzhou customs officials suggested that enterprises should seize the opportunity to take the initiative to "go out" and make full use of the large number of labor force, rich land resources and broad market in ASEAN to cooperate with ASEAN enterprises.

At the same time, we can avoid foreign trade barriers originated from China's products by setting up factories locally.

On the one hand, the relevant departments should increase publicity on the China ASEAN Free Trade Area and related policies, facilitate the enterprises to enjoy the preferential policies of the FTA; on the other hand, they should set up an information sharing platform, and actively provide enterprises with all kinds of information such as the domestic legal provisions, production structure, market size and consumption habits of ASEAN members, so as to help enterprises solve the difficulties encountered in the "going out" process.
