Shanghai Court Decides To Distribute Counterfeit Columbia Brand

The sportswear company announced that the court of the people's Government of Huangpu District, Shanghai, China, convicted three people who distributed counterfeit Columbia brand products in Shanghai.

In December 29, 2010, the Chinese authorities seized nearly 7000 counterfeits.

It includes about 2000 counterfeit Columbia sports brand products, with a market price of about $2 million 700 thousand.
The goods were seized from two retail outlets and two warehouses operated by Shen Shen in Shanghai.
Shen and two employees were convicted of distributing counterfeit goods.
Shen was sentenced to 10 months' imprisonment and two employees were sentenced to 6 months' imprisonment.
Three infringers were also fined.
"We attach great importance to our brand and image and will take advantage of all available legal means to prevent infringement of our brand, design and trademark," said John mattley, deputy general counsel and intellectual property director of Columbia.
We believe this is a matter of principle and integrity to protect loyal customers from fraud in Columbia.
We thank the Huangpu District Public Security Bureau for its spare no efforts in the seizure of counterfeit goods and criminals.
We are also grateful to the people's Court of Huangpu District for believing that its decision sends a clear deterrent message to all counterfeiters.
