 Change old as new

London brand Junky Styling is good at deconstructing old clothes and turning old suits into loose trousers. Annika Sanders and Kerry Seager told us that wearing second-hand clothes is fashionable and changing second-hand clothes is even cooler.

B:14 years ago, when you founded Junky Styling, how did you think of the concept of "changing old as new"?

J.K: we are all self-learning fashion design, the original motivation is to dress differently and personalities. When I go out to play in the evening, my friends are impressed, but there is not much money.

B: what kind of dress did you first make?

J.K: our first work is "magic trousers" - it was originally a man's old suit, and after it was finished, it became a lady's trousers. When we put the lower part of the suit into the waist, we created a combination of half skirts and trousers. The pocket of a suit becomes a small handbag for storing keys and small change.

B: what progress have you made compared with 14 years ago?

J.K: we have always followed the natural course of development. In recent years, customers have increasingly regarded antique clothing as a fashion. Our production, design and retail teams are growing stronger, so more diversified businesses are now being developed, from retail development to wardrobe consultants, customization and wholesale. Next, we plan to set up training courses and lectures to teach us how to change old clothes by ourselves. Under the influence of the big environment, our positioning is no longer the same. From "recycling" (recycled clothes) to "upcycling (upgrading)". Recently, we launched a new product line: Ju. StOne. This is a limited series of small sales, all using out of print cloth and tailings. Among them, the tailings are the rest of our brands from the best textile factories in the UK.

The cloth version is that we cooperate with other brands to transform the clothes that they have not sold. This is the 1.5 custom product line. Customers can choose which cloth and lining to use, but every time we do only 25, the cloth is finished. The next series will be called Ju. St Two.

B: what is the best way to transform your old clothes?

J.K: what we do best is to dismantle men's suits and shirts and blend into our signboard external structural details. Our design is not to transform the old clothes slightly, but to use them as raw materials to make them completely changed. For example, turn a coat that was originally masculine enough to a very incomparable waist dress.
